The natural park of Cazorla, Segura and las Villas is the largest Natural Park in Spain and one of the largest in Europe.
Almost in the centre of the park is the large reservoir Tranco and by its side the village of Hornos de Segura, Segura de la Sierra which have been declared of historical and architectural value.
The River Gualalquivir, which has its source in Cañada de las Fuentes, offers spectacular countryside with valleys and steep pine covered rocky over-hangs.

River Borosa and River Aguamula along with the visitors center - Centro de Interpretación de la Torre del Vinagre offer tremendous insight into this special park with daily film showings, a large range of antlers and skulls and introduces the park's plants and geology, and offers advice on camping, fishing, and hiking trails. Its open 11-2 and 4-6 daily.
The whole area has retained its roots and traditions as tourism was late to arrive here its a step back in time to rural traditions and unspoilt beauty.
The main road through the park from Cazorla town winds steeply in place until it meets and follows the river to the shores of Lake Tranco. Stunning scenery reminiscent of Switzerland with Alpine meadows, pine forests, waterfalls and gorges are Cazorla´s hallmark. Beautiful, stunning and wild it´s a perfect place for walking and camping and to escape the busy modern world.
The mountain top village of Segura de la Sierra with it´s Moorish castle and Moorish baths is a must to visit, at 1.230m it offers outstanding views across the natural park.

The numerous mountain goat reigns supreme in the high rocky crags and after a 90% loss of its population in the late 1980s due to an epidemic the numbers have now recuperated.

Deer and wild boar also freely roam this mountain wilderness which is 80 km long and 30 km wide. An impressive natural space virtually untouched by man.
A species indigenous to the park is "Sciurus vulgaris Subsp. segurae" a type of squirrel not found anywhere on the peninsula.

Hawks, eagles, lammergeyer and vultures grace the peaks which in place rise to over 1,800 metres. The birds in the park are abundant and the area was declared a Zona de Especial Protección de Aves (ZEPA) special protection area in 1988.
