Riding in Las Alpujarras
On the lower slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountain range lies the area known as Las Alpujarras. Here with stunning views of the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea in the pure mountain air sits the stables of Caballo Blanco which means White Horse.
For novice riders or experienced hands they have horses suitable for all ages and stages of riding capability.

It's here I sat on a horse for the second time in my near half century and boy what a joy.
So engrossed in the views was I that I completely forgot my fear of horses (and heights). My youngest son and I were led while the older two boys and hubby walked their own horses.

The day with a hint of a breeze was glorious, more like spring than mid-November. We walked paths, tarmac bits of quiet mountain roads and because we were doing so well - a slight climb to what felt like the top of the world and well-worth the view.

We all, my youngest of 10, the teens - 18 and 16 and parents really enjoyed it and all agree that we'd love to do it again.
Sarah and Ali were very friendly, thanks Ali who had to chaffeur us around in his 4x4 due to unexpected road repairs. We'll be back.
Sarah offers rides from an hour to treks of several days with outdoor camping or D,B&B accommodation along the way.

We stayed just minutes down the mountain towards, yet above the town of Lanjarón in a peaceful little hillside nook with four units and the owners house. Have a look at Casa del Viento.
