Fuente de Piedra

Fuente de Piedra is a typical Andalucian town with many neo-classical buildings dating from XIX century, narrow streets and flower-filled balconies.

The main attraction is not the town itself which is pleasant enough but Fuente de Piedra lake, which is the largest in Andalucia. Lying 140 kms from Sevilla and just 70kms from Málaga, buses come from both and also trains run from Córdoba and take around 1.5 hours.

For a day trip, flamingo watch or a walk around the lake it’s a fascinating and beautiful place to visit. The lake is walking distance from the station and if walking is your thing then plan to walk around the lake. It’s roughly 20km of obviously flat terrain and takes 3.5 to 4 hours to return to your starting point. But with cameras ready and flamingos to watch it’ll probably take much longer.
