Cycling - Bike Riding in

Andalucia

For diverse cycling or bike riding terrain Spain is the second most mountainous country in Europe with the highest peak of Mulhacen in the Sierra Nevada. The landscape of Andalucia varies from the flat plain of the River Gualquivir running to the south-eastern Atlantic coast to the various rocky mountain ranges or Sierras.

Inland Andalucia offers quiet country roads, rough mule tracks and fantastic cross-country trails and with over 300 days of sunshine a year, easy access (fly into Granada airport) it's even a viable proposition for a long-weekend.

The summer months get very hot inland so unless you’re heading up the highest mountains it’s probably best avoided in July and August.

From the fairly flat green way or Via Verde routes to steep climbs and single track descents you’ll be able to discover your type of cycling here, on road or off road, pleasant or thrilling it’s not far away.

There are companies that offer guided rides and self-guided rides or ample accommodation either for B&B or self-catering away from the towns and cities or hostels and hotels in the built-up areas.
