Anis Museum
The Anis Museum is a worthwhile and fun look at the history of Anis in this area.
Cordoba province has been famous for its production of spirits and liquors since XVI century, the most popular by far was anis and soon many distilleries sprung up around the area.
By 1908 in the small town of Rute in the south-east of Cordoba province Destileria Duende was well into producing its famous Anis.
Today in the same building the Anis Museum or Museo del Anis de Rute is housed. It opened to the public in 1994 and shows the evolution of anis up to the product of today.
On display are the wonderful artifacts, machines, bottles and many documents that date back to 1655. Many bottle labels remain paying tribute to members of the Royal Family, bullfighters and artists.
