After the earlier rounds that took place in Cordoba, Granada and Madrid the water chess final is to take place in the Arab Baths of Granada on December 18th 2008.

The idea of playing chess in the bath is far from new and the tornament is an initiative to preserve the Moorish heritage.

The Moors idled away hours and hours in the Baths where many forms of entertainment took place, if you'd like to watch the chess finals phone 902 333 334 for more information.

The ancient Alcazaba in Antequera will reopen on December 4 this year, much earlier than the original projection.

After two years of restoration works with a cost of a total of around seven million euros the alcazaba will once again open its doors to visitors.

Alcazaba is Arabic for citadel - a walled fortification and is one of several that remain from Al-Andalus times.

Others can be found in Almera, Antequera, Badajoz, Granada, Guadix, Malaga and Merida.

The Alcazaba was built as a hillside defence when Antequera was called Medina Antaquira, this was part of the northern border of the Nasrid kingdom.

Voria Harras with some of her collection.

Voria has spent many years collecting and restoring doll's houses and furniture.

Some of the exhibits are wonderful originals from the 13th to 21st century. After many years of travelling to exhibitions she felt that they needed a permanent base as the travelling was damaging the collection.

So in 1998 she found a lovely Baroque house in Malaga's old town and the collection is well settled - It's worth a visit.
