Andalucia Tourist Routes

&

European Cultural Itineraries

There are numerous Andalucia Tourist Routes laid out to encourage and invite us to learn about the tumultuous past of Andalucia.

The routes are well signposted and easy to follow once you know where to start them.

One of the important historical routes is Castles and Battles a route that starts to the north and enters Andalucia travelling via different monuments to the most famous of them all The Alhambra Palace.

There are four routes by Legado Andalusí or Andalucian Legacy, under the title Rutas de al-Andalus the first The Washington Irving Route which follows the journey of the North American traveller, romantic writer and diplomat. This takes the visitor from Seville, more or less following the A92 into Granada.

The Route of the Caliphate goes from Cordoba to Granada, covering the fantastic architecture left by the Moors in times when the Hispano-Muslim state combined two continents and cultures.

The legacy of the Moors is more prevalent in Andalucia than anywhere else in Europe, making the south of Spain the melting pot of cultures. Cordoba was a major seat of power and trading and Granada the last remaining Muslim held territory, and in between the two are castles and towns that were important outposts in the territorial battles.

The Route of the Nazaríes trails between Albolote and Ubeda
The Route of the Almorávides and Almohades which travels from Algeciras via Cadiz and Jerez finishing in Velez-Malaga.
